Up to 6 months of the first year of life of the baby it is strictly necessary to breastfeed babies because the formation of their intestinal functions is completed by this route (for example, the enzymes found in the stomach and intestine). After the first semester, the child begins little by little to replace the intake of breast milk with other new foods such as juices, pieces of fruit or cereals.

From 6 months It is necessary to change the diet not only because the pediatrician indicates it, but because the baby progressively demands it and your nutritional needs change. The baby can no longer maintain a single breastfeeding feed. If this were to occur, it would lead to a nutritional disadvantage.

Changing your diet requires help and patience. The first thing is to have control over possible food intolerances, that is, if any food causes diarrhea, increased fever, constipation, or other diseases to the baby.

The baby's body must gradually get used to this change in diet. It is absolutely counterproductive to keep an exclusively breastfed baby after the first year. The baby could be involved in a serious risk of malnutrition.

In principle, introducing a new food takes about 2 or 3 days and then a pattern of normal hours in which it requires feeding. Example: bottle with cereal or cereal porridge in the morning, meal or lunch, fruit porridge for snack, bottle or dinner in the evening as needed.

For the transition change from breastfeeding to feeding, following the recommendations in the aforementioned table, the only problem that arises is that of authority and firmness in the decision to change food, since those who know what the baby needs to continue growing are the parents.
